COGGO is a founding investor in CanolaCanola Breeders Western Australia Pty Ltd (CBWA). CBWA was established in July 2001 from an alliance of the Council of Grain Grower Organisations Ltd (COGGO), the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), and The University of Western Australia. Within 12 months, the new company had attracted a fourth major investor, Nordddeutsche Pflanzenzucht Hans George Lembke (NPZ-Lembke), a 100-year-old family-owned plant breeding company in Germany, who are leaders in hybrid canola breeding in Europe and North America.

Canola Breeders has become a nationally focused company breeding new canola varieties across all rainfall environments.

CBWA has 8 varieties in the market in 2010, including the world's first TT hybrid series:- CB™ Jardee HT, CB™ Tumby HT and CB™ Mallee HT; the new generation Roundup Ready hybrid CB™ Eclipse RR; and Open Pollinated varieties for a range of environments in CB™ Telfer, CB™ Argyle, and CB™ Scaddan.

In addition to COGGO's equity funding of CBWA, COGGO has also supported various R&D projects to assist the production of superior canola varieties for WA growers, including:
