New kabuli chickpea varieties with resistance to the devastating ascochyta disease are being bred by CLIMA with support from COGGO.
Three advanced lines,selected for good resistance to ascochyta and large seed size, are undergoing seed increase by COGGO members in 2004.
One or more of the lines will be released in February 2005, with seed available to growers for production in 2006. COGGO members have priority access to the seed.
